Metal Fastener Supply Company, Inc. was founded by George D. Kirby and his wife, Ruth, in 1963 in a small storefront. Mr. Kirby had retired from Redstone Arsenal and made a transition to an engineering firm performing some of the same duties as during his military career. After a few years, the federal government experienced some severe cutbacks resulting in the cancellation of civil service contracts. Mr. Kirby began researching the local area businesses and realized there was a need for a distribution business that could supply fasteners and mill supplies to area industry.
This was the beginning of a business that focused on quality products and service as well as staff with the knowledge of the products and applications. Over the next 20 years, Metal Fastener developed a reputation for superior service to manufacturers, construction companies, MRO accounts, farming, and more. The company relocated as more space was required for conducting business, and in 1970 the company moved to its present location just off the Beltline Highway near the entrance to Ascend Performance Materials. The company continues to grow and has expanded three additional times at the new location. Ruth Kirby took over management of the business in 1983 upon the death of her husband. By 1992, she was recognized as the Small Business Person of the year, and received a special achievement award from the Small Business Administration in 1993.
Today Metal Fastener continues to stress ethics and integrity involving business relationships. The Metal Fastener staff constantly receives product training and gets hands-on experience as well. The Metal Fastener sales staff know that customers still rely upon readily available, quality inventory to meet their requirements. Metal Fastener carries a larger (in stock) selection of domestic material than most of our competitors.
Metal Fastener customers may continue to expect the same level of excellence as in the past.
